Grant Taking a couple of Steps

Well, Grant certainly doesn't mess around. He thinks he is such a big boy! He stands up and takes one to three steps before sitting back down and crawling. When he's standing at the train table, he likes to stand without holding on and wave. He just started waving within the last week. He kind of reminds me of Hitler; he just holds up one hand, rather seriously, as if he's commanding attention of the Jungen.

Grant also started babbling lots of "da das" in the past week and using sign language for "more" and "all done." He's very proud of himself when he asks for more and gets it!

Dinosaurs!

Charlie has recently discovered dinosaurs. When I pick him up on Tuesdays and Thursdays, I ask him what he did at school that day. He ALWAYS replies, "I play dinosaurs!" So, I found some dinosaurs in a dollar bin and picked them up to have on hand for our goodie bag. I keep a goodie bag so that when Charlie behaves REALLY well he can choose a prize. I'm also hoping to use this for potty training incentive (as of right now, he has zero interest). Recently, Charlie was a super good listener and got to choose a reward. He, of course, picked a dinosaur. He wanted to take it in the car with him; and as we were driving, I asked him what he wanted to name his new dinosaur friend. I explained that everyone has a name, and we called out his family and friends' names to help him choose a good name for his dinosaur. He said he wanted to name his dinosaur, "Mommy." So all weekend he kept asking, "Where's mommy?" and we had to clarify if he was speaking of "Mommy the dinosaur" or just Mommy. Usually, he wanted Mommy the dinosaur. Is it wierd that I felt flattered that he named his prized possession, a large reptile, "Mommy"?

Surfside Beach for Labor Day

Charlie had so much fun jumping in the pool this past weekend. He was mostly belly flopping, but he didn't seem to mind the pain! Grant just enjoyed floating in the pool and watching his brother jump over and over again.

The Bird Feeder

Charlie and I saw a bird feeder made of a milk carton in a magazine, and he's been talking about bird houses and bird feeders for a week. We go for walks in the neighborhood, and he points out every bird house ("bird's house"). So here is our homemade bird house. Charlie was digging through the craft box and found the wooden letters. I said, what do you want the bird house to say with the letters? He asked, what do birdies say? You tell me what birdies say, Charlie. He responded, "TWEET!" "Bird's house say TWEET!"

The boys love riding in the wagon together. Last week Grant grabbed Charlie's sippy cup with rasberry lemonade and guzzled some down before I noticed. He thinks he's so big!

Some August Adventures

Charlie picked a habanero pepper from our garden. We took it away just before he bit into it! Yikes!
Grant always has is giraffe lovey hanging out of his mouth. Charlie was the exact same with his monkey lovey.

Running through the sprinkler with William and Sydney and Miss Cindy's pool. What a fun day for the kids, moms and grandmoms!
Playing in G's crib.
Standing in crib waiting on someone to pick him up!

Birthdays and Cages

Happy Birthday Daddy!
Charlie decorated Alan's birthday cake with lots of sprinkles!

Yes, I broke down and bought a cage for my kids! Ha! Grant is crawling and cruising all over the house, so this was a great purchase for the playroom. Charlie likes to get in and play with him sometimes. Alan calls it the ulitmate fighting championship ring. Two will enter...only one will come out!

Goldfish and Beer

My friend Jennifer called me after the first day of preschool. She asked her son Graham what they had for a snack at school, and he said red cookies. At our preschool orientation, the director promised healthier snacks, so red cookies probably weren't the best way to get the school year started in a more nutritious direction. She asked if I would find out from Charlie if they did indeed have red cookies. ( You never know with 2 year olds ) So, later in the day I asked Charlie what he had for a snack at school. He responded, "Some goldfish and some beer!" I guess we better talk to the director...ha!
